My child has never played football. Can he integrate easily into a team?
Football is a very strategic and physical team sport where all players have their place, regardless of their size. There is a position for everyone but commitment is a priority. Play time is not guaranteed and will be allocated to children who prepare for the season and follow safety guidelines. Coaches must also take into account factors such as maturity, physique and desire to play. To play football you have to be prepared and focused. Football being a contact sport, the child must be able to ensure his safety.
How many practices do you have
Practices are 2 per week depending on the category. The season begins in August. The number of games is set at 10. Practices take place during the week and games are on the weekend. The season ends in November with the playoffs.
My child is small and I'm afraid he will get hurt.
We teach safe contact but maturity has a lot to do with it. You have to be attentive and concentrated on the pitch and gain confidence otherwise the player will be afraid and the risk of injury is greater. There are positions that are more physically demanding than others and this must be taken into account when choosing a player's position.
How long does a season last?
Practices begin in mid-May. Practices continue until the end of the season, around mid-November depending on whether the teams advance to the playoffs.
The ''real'' games begin in mid-August and end at the end of October and then the series begin.
Does he have a summer vacation?
Construction holidays are a popular time off for the majority of teams. Even if a player misses practices he will be able to study the playbook and, if necessary, ask his teammates and coaches additional questions. However, a prolonged absence can harm the development and safety of the player.
